Design therapy at the mall

There is no denying the mall culture that pervades the way of life of today's generation. But, thanks to the foresight of the people behind the Filipino Zone at Greenbelt 5 -- ordinary mall goers could take a peek into the best of Philippine design. Interestingly, too, some of CITEM's first-rate exhibitors and designer consultants have set up shop here, from Butch Carungay's Avatar accessories, renowned designer Cesar Gaupo's shoe store, and our young apparel designers like Joey Samson and Ivar Aseron (CITEM merchandise consultants for fashion) at the Myth.

On a rainy weekend, here are some shots of the zone (being done while snoopy security guards look on). Recommend the place to your visiting guests from other countries to give them a preview of some of the best in Pinoy design. Or better yet, let your guests visit Manila F.A.M.E. International (October 16-19) and experience them all in stylized settings (:

Philippine Asian MICE Forum - An Invitation

sq
CITEM is a member of the Philippine Association of Exhibition/Convention Organizers or PACEOS. This is also the reason we are inviting you to join the Philippine Asian M.I.C.E. Forum on August 27 and 28 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel. MICE stands for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions.

Maybe not known to many, by promoting our exhibitions industry we also raise much needed revenues in our tourism/attractions, hotels, transport, as well as food and beverage sectors. Small deed indeed but we can make a concrete contribution to the economic picture by attending a local exhibit or inviting our friends and foreign guests to attende one.

Spread the cheers (: Visit www.philippineasianmiceforum.com for details.

Designers.

"We're all designers who share the same belief in the mixture of modern sensibility and Asian sensitivity to craftsmanship and natural materials," - Kenneth Cobonpue

We recently visited "designers" an exhibit of the Philippine Design Center at the Metropolitan Museum. Tita Nanette, a friend from the design center invited our team to view some of the new pieces by Pinoy designers, all transforming their dream ideas into wonderful art forms.

Here's a peek. Some of them have joined CITEM shows in one way or another. Exhibit's on view until Aug. 23 (:

A Blog Comeback

After a couple of months on a break, we are bringing this blog back to keep our SME clients and friends posted with scoops, trends, and news bits about the industry.

And we begin with our green theme. The green light is on for Asia's Best Design Destination -- the Manila FAME International. This chair made of recycled paper is just a teaser on how eco-design inspirations take centerstage in this manufacturers' fair for design-driven products.

Watch out for more green designs on October 16-19, SMX Convention Center, Manila.
